The Churchie Foundation was formed in 1989 as the School's central fundraising body. Its aims:

  • provide financial support for building priorities
  • grow an endowment to provide ongoing funds.

An initial campaign raised $1.2 million. This money assisted significant building work undertaken in the early 1990s, contributing to the refurbishment of School House and the construction of cloisters on Morris Hall.

Since then the Foundation has helped fund construction of the Jensen Building (Music and Languages teaching plus staff facilities), the Stanley and May Smith Science Centre, new Prep School buildings, Boarding House refurbishments and other major improvement projects.

The Foundation has raised some $20 million for the School during its lifetime. It currently holds more than $4 million in the Endowment Fund and plans to grow this to at least $10 million in the medium term. This fund is the ideal repository for bequests because tax deductibility is not an issue. The Building Fund, Library Fund and Scholarship Fund all have Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, thus offering tax advantages to donors.
